When people think about human trafficking, they often picture it happening somewhere far away—some big city or another country. But the truth is, human trafficking can and does occur right here, in PEI.
So, what does trafficking actually look like in our communities? How can we protect kids, recognize the signs and take action to help?
We invite you to join us for eye-opening and important presentations on February 28th from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Stanley Bridge Hall, featuring the RCMP and Dina, an Overcomer* and CEO of EVENforONE.
🔹 Real Insights – Lived experience expert Dina will present via video, offering insights into the realities of trafficking.
🔹 Expert Perspective – An RCMP officer will break down what trafficking looks like here in PEI, sharing crucial human trafficking facts for our region.
🔹 Recognizing the Signs – Learn practical ways to spot the red flags to both identify potential victims in our communities and help protect your loved ones.
🔹 How to Help – Whether through community awareness, prevention efforts, or support for overcomers, we’ll discuss steps anyone can take to be part of the solution.
Trafficking can take many forms, and human trafficking myths often keep us from seeing what’s happening right in front of us. Education is key to prevention, and this event will equip you with the knowledge to make a difference. What better way to acknowledge National Human Trafficking Awareness Day in Canada (Feb 22), by attending this community event!
This free event is open to everyone—parents, educators, frontline workers, business owners, and community members who simply want to make PEI a safer place. No prior knowledge is needed; just come ready to learn and be part of an important conversation. Due to the sensitive nature of this subject, we recommend this event for ages 18 and up; however, we leave this up to the discretion of parents.
Come grab a seat and take the first step in being part of the solution. We hope to see you there!
*Overcomer means a person who has experienced human trafficking and perseveres in their journey towards healing and growth, despite setbacks and daily challenges and obstacles.
