Volunteer Position: Communications Manager Volunteer

Location: Remote
Commitment:
Minimum 5 hours per week (but can volunteer more) with flexible hours and a minimum of a 6-month commitment

Position Overview
The Communications Manager Volunteer will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing all communications efforts for EVENforONE. This volunteer position requires a creative thinker with strong leadership skills and a passion for storytelling. You will play a pivotal role in shaping EVENforONE’s public image and ensuring our messaging aligns with our mission and values. Help us create and implement effective communication strategies that raise awareness of our mission, engage our community, and support our fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help develop and advise on a comprehensive communications strategy that supports EVENforONE’s goals, enhances brand awareness, and engages key audiences.
  • Oversee and assist in the development of engaging content for various platforms, including the website, social media channels, email newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials.
  • Assist in creating and promoting survivor-centered, empowering messaging for fundraising, special events, and advocacy efforts 
  • Ensure all communications are on-brand, consistent, and clearly reflect the mission and values of EVENforONE, including using trauma-informed language and respecting the dignity of survivors.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication campaigns and digital content to assess performance and refine strategies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital marketing strategies and content creation (e.g. graphic design, video editing, Canva, etc.)
  • Experience with content management systems, email marketing tools, and analytics software.
  • Creative, strategic thinker
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
  • A growth mindset and willingness to learn. 
  • Understanding of trauma-informed messaging (training will be provided).
  • Passion for human rights, social justice, and ethical storytelling.
  • Must acquire and pass a background check

Training & Support Provided

  • Orientation on branding, storytelling, and survivor-centered communication.
  • Tools and templates for content creation.
  • Regular communication with and support from the supervisor.
