Volunteer Position: UI/UX Designer Volunteer

Location: Remote
Commitment: Minimum 10 hours per week (but can volunteer more) with flexible hours and a minimum of a 6-month commitment
Reports To: CEO and CTO

Position Overview

The UI/UX Designer Volunteer will play a crucial role in designing and enhancing the user experience of EVENforONE’s web app as well as refreshing and maintaining our Webflow website. This position is ideal for a creative thinker passionate about human-centered design, accessibility, and technology-driven solutions for social impact. As a volunteer UI/UX Designer, you will help create a seamless, intuitive, and trauma-informed digital experience for survivors of human trafficking and the service providers who support them. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the development team to design user-friendly interfaces that prioritize survivor agency and ease of use.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs that align with EVENforONE’s mission and branding.
  • Ensure accessibility and usability best practices are incorporated into the design.
  • Develop and refine design system components to maintain consistency across the web app.
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure smooth implementation of designs.
  • Continuously iterate on designs based on user feedback and data insights gathered during beta testing.
  • Assist in refreshing and maintaining EVENforONE’s Webflow website to ensure an engaging and functional user experience.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in UI/UX design, product design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
  • Intimate knowledge and experience working with Webflow.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and accessibility standards.
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS is important to this role, but perhaps not a deal breaker for an otherwise amazing fit.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
  • Passion for social impact, ethical design, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Must acquire and pass a background check.

Training & Support Provided

  • Orientation on survivor-centered design and trauma-informed principles through our communications guidelines and other policies.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with team members to ensure user needs are met.

Your work will directly contribute to reducing barriers to aftercare and empowering survivors in their journey toward restoration.
